My Role at FaithWestwood
My ministry with this congregation focuses on the operational side of things. I care for the logistics, the financial oversite, human resources, and grounds. I handle the business so that other Ministry Directors can focus their talents on the delivery of services to various areas of the congregation and the community.
My Background in Faith
At an early age I was involved in the life of a church. I spent time going to numerous vacation bible schools, Sunday schools, church camps, youth groups, and church-sponsored Boy Scouts. At about age twelve, I felt called to be a preacher and set out to answer that call. After preaching for a number of years, I felt called to sit down and listen – so I became a Christian counselor. After that, God again called me to parish ministry as a pastor. I retired in 2011, but have been called back as an Interim Pastor on three occasions and now as a director of business administration. I am forever grateful to those have shared the faith with me and helped me discover Christ in my life.
Why I Love our Church
Being new at FaithWestwood gives one the perspective of an outsider. I am impressed by the number of people involved in study groups to grow in faith, in service areas to share the faith, and in the sensitivity the people have to each other and the work God is doing in and through them. It is a congregation seeking to have the mind of Christ, to love with the heart of Christ, and to serve as the hands of Christ – and doing a good job at each.
A Bit About Me
Judy and I have been married for over fifty years and together we have two grown children and five grandchildren. We grew up in Michigan where I served as a United Methodist pastor while Judy taught music and baton twirling. We moved to Omaha to be near our daughter and her family. Our son was in the military and now lives in Las Vegas. I dabble in wood working. Judy and I love to travel, be it in our RV or anywhere around the world. What is the best trip ever? The one we are on at the time.
