  • Blanketed with prayer

    This team of talented volunteers knits and crochets prayer shawls and ties fleece prayer blankets for anyone in the congregation, their friends, and their family members who may be experiencing one of life’s challenges – illness, hospitalization, grief. They also create baby afghans for new babies in the congregation and for our Love & Learn Child Development Center.  And they  donate scarves, hats, blankets, and shawls to local nursing homes and Project Harmony.

    Blanketed with Prayer meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month,

    1:00 to 3:00 PM, in room 231

    The CareMATer team crochets strips of plastic grocery bags into lightweight, washable, sleeping mats distributed to homeless members of our community through various outreach organizations such as Sienna Francis House, Community Alliance, Salvation Army, Department of Veterans’ Affairs, etc. 

    Volunteers can: 

    1. Donate clean plastic grocery bags.

    2. Cut bags into strips (at home and/or at monthly meeting).

    3. Crochet strips into mats. 

    Meets the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall

  • Griefshare

    GriefShare – a national Christian seminar and support group ministry for those grieving the death (whether recent or in the past) of someone close. 

    Meets Monday evenings starting January 6, 2019. Open to anyone in the Omaha Metro area.

    New members can join any time during the 12 week course.

  • divorcecare

    DivorceCare – a national Christian seminar and support ministry for those who are separated, in the process of divorce, or already divorced (whether recently or in the past.) You’ll learn how to deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life among a supportive group of people who understand what divorce is all about. Open to anyone in the Omaha metro area. 

    13-week series offered occasionally. Meets Sundays from 12:00 - 12:30 p.m. for lunch followed by a group session from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Please call for next session dates. Childcare provided.

  • Prayer Ministry

    Prayer Requests – may be submitted using the link at the top of this page. Prayers will be shared with the email prayer chain or kept confidential, based upon your request. 


    Prayer Team – members provide a confidential prayer ministry during Sunday worship services. 

    E-mail Prayer Chain – prayer requests may be emailed directly to and will be shared with all prayer chain members. Those in the congregation who wish join the Prayer Chain and pray for others should email and ask to be added to the prayer chain mailing list.

    Personal Prayer/Counseling/Referrals – Vikki O’Hara, Director of Congregational Care, is available to meet with you for prayer, short-term counseling, and referrals to church and community resources during times of challenge. She also provides hospital visitation including pre-surgical prayer.

  • Health and Wellness Ministry

    As a participant in the Healthy Congregations program, FaithWestwood promotes the physical, social, spiritual, and emotional health and wholeness of our congregation and community through a multi-faceted approache to wellness. 

    The cornerstone of our Health and Wellness Ministry are our Faith Community Nurses, Cheryl Gray, RN, FCN and Sandi Vyhlidal, RN, FCN. Working with other members of the Health and Wellness Leadership Team, the Health and Wellness Advisory Board, and staff ministry directors, we seek to assess and respond to the wellness needs of the congregation through education, training, and care of the spirit.

  • Angels on Wheels

    Angels on Wheels - provides free transportation for those in our congregation who cannot drive themselves to their health-related appointments, FaithWestwood worship services, or church-related events.

    To comply with insurance requirements, Angels on Wheels has a one-time registration for both drivers and riders.
