  • Blanketed with prayer

    Knits/crochets prayer shawls and ties fleece prayer blankets to be given to those in the congregation, their friends and family members when experiencing life’s challenges – illness, hospitalization, grief. Crochets baby afghans for new babies in the congregation and our Child Development Center.  Also makes scarves and hats for homeless and low-income individuals and families in our metro area, and donates blankets and shawls to local nursing homes and Project Harmony.

    CareMATs – crochets strips of plastic grocery bags into lightweight, washable, sleeping mats distributed to homeless members of our community through various community outreach organizations such as Sienna Francis House, Community Alliance, Salvation Army, Department of Veterans’ Affairs, etc. Volunteers can: 1. Donate clean plastic grocery bags (leave outside church office); 2. cut bags into strips (at home and/or at monthly meeting); 3. Crochet strips into mats. 

    Meets the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall

  • Griefshare

    GriefShare – national Christian seminar and support group ministry for those grieving the death (whether recent or in the past) of someone close. 

    Meets Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Open to anyone in the Omaha Metro area.


    Next session starts on Wednesday, August 24, but new members can join any time during the 14 weeks

    DivorceCare – national Christian seminar and support ministry for those who are separated, in the process of divorce, or already divorced (whether recent or in the past.) You’ll learn how to deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life among a supportive group of people who understand what divorce is all about. Open to anyone in the Omaha metro area. 

    Meets Sundays for lunch (no charge) from 12:00 to 12:30 PM with group session from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. 13-week series offered occasionally. Please call for next session dates.

    Single & Parenting – national Christian seminar and support ministry provides practical resources and skills to face the challenges of single parenting. Open to anyone in the Omaha metro area.

  • Prayer Ministry

    Prayer Requests – may be submitted using the link at the top of this page. Prayers will be shared with the email prayer chain or kept confidential, based upon your request. 

     

    Prayer Team – members provide a confidential prayer ministry during Sunday worship services. 


    E-mail Prayer Chain – prayer requests may be emailed directly to prayers@faithwestwood.com and will be shared with all prayer chain members. Those in the congregation who wish join the Prayer Chain and pray for others should email prayers@faithwestwood.com and ask to be added to the prayer chain mailing list.


    Personal Prayer/Counseling/Referrals – Vikki O’Hara, Congregational Care Director is available to meet with you for prayer, short-term counseling, referrals to church and community resources, etc. during times of challenge. She also provides hospital visitation, including pre-surgical prayer.

  • Health and Wellness Ministry

    As a participant in the Healthy Congregations program of the Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church, FaithWestwood seeks to promote the spiritual, physical, social and mental/emotional health and wholeness of our congregation and community through a collaborative, multi-faceted approached to wellness. Among the cornerstones of our Health and Wellness Ministry are our Faith Community Nurses, Cheryl Gray, RN, FCN and Sandi Vyhlidal, RN, FCN. Working collaboratively with other members of the Health and Wellness Leadership Team, the Health and Wellness Advisory Board, and staff ministry directors, we seek to assess and respond to the expressed needs of the congregation through education, training, and care of the spirit.

  • Angels on Wheels

    Angels on Wheels -provides free transportation for those in our congregation who cannot drive themselves to their health-related appointments and FaithWestwood worship services or church-related events.

    Angels on Wheels has a one-time registration (to comply with insurance requirements) for both drivers and riders which takes a couple of weeks

  • Funerals/Memorial Services

    Vikki O’Hara, Congregational Care Director, is the first point of contact to arrange/coordinate funerals and memorial services at FaithWestwood.
